Martine fancies her own TV chat show

-

SHE has been out of the limelight for a few years to concentrate on being a mum but now actress and singer Martine McCutcheon is back in business and is aiming rather high.

The 42-year-old is starring in comedy football flick The Bromley Boys and is midway through a UK tour. But the ex-EastEnder has even bigger plans.

“My dream next is to do my own show. I kind of want to do what James Corden does, but as a girl and in England,” she tells Day & Night at the movie’s premiere, which was appropriately held at Wembley Stadium.

Martine, who has a son, Rafferty, three, with her musician husband Jack McManus, 33, adds: “I would love to have different kinds of people on the show and real

heroes. I just love people and with my own show I’ll be able to tie everything in. They don’t really make shows like that any more.”

With her cheeky cockney charm, Martine isn’t a million miles from James’s Essex boy swagger and with her singing voice she would nail Carpool Karaoke. However, such a career move seems a touch far-fetched considering she isn’t quite the household name she was when she starred opposite Hugh Grant in Love Actually in 2003.

Martine says she was lured back to acting by the script for her new movie: “It takes a lot for me to be away from my son because it’s long days and long nights normally. But for this film I just felt like, ‘Yeah, I want to do this’.”

The Bromley Boys is in cinemas from next Friday.
