THE Queen has given an unseen photograph of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex pride of place in the room where she entertains visiting politicians and diplomats at Buckingham Palace.

The 92-year-old monarch has put the touching portrait of Harry and Meghan on display on a table in her private audience room.

The portrait of the newlyweds in a loving embrace was spotted yesterday when she hosted an audience for George Brandis, the new Australian High Commissioner in London.

Palace officials declined to give details about the photograph but it is thought to be part of a set taken by Alexi Lubomirski, the Polish prince who took official engagement and wedding pictures. Harry, 33, is seen in the photograph wearing a blue suit and standing close to Meghan, 36, who is in a figure-hugging dress.

The Queen, who regularly switches photographs around in her private apartments at the palace, has previously placed a portrait there of Princess Anne and her second husband Sir Tim Laurence and before that of Prince Henrik, the late husband of Queen Margaret II of Denmark.

Other family pictures in the ornate room include one of Harry and his brother William wearing military uniform and one of Zara and Mike Tindall on their wedding day.

The audience room houses many royal treasures, including a £2million Canaletto painting of St Mark’s Square in Venice and a £5million portrait of Anne, Duchess of Cumberland by Thomas Gainsborough.

Two 18th-century English porcelain pheasants, worth £20,000, stand over a fireplace where the Queen famously uses a £29.99 two-bar electric fire to heat the room in winter.
