City closing in on Jorginho
MANCHESTER City boss Pep Guardiola hopes to complete £100million-plus of signings over the weekend after his club lodged a formal bid to Napoli for midfielder Jorginho, 26, yesterday.
City, having all but agreed the signing of Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez for a basic £60m, hope to conclude both deals by the start of next week. And Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos said: “I know an offer to Napoli has arrived from Manchester City.
“We’re waiting for their response. I don’t think they have rejected offers. If Napoli find an agreement with City, we’ll assess everything. Obviously Manchester City would be very welcome, an opportunity not to be turned down. The coach is one of the best in Europe.”
Jorginho, a Brazil-born Italy international, refused to discuss his future when quizzed while with his national team.
But it is understood City have agreed a basic £80,000-a-week deal with his camp.
Sources in Italy claim the clubs are moving ever closer to a £42m agreement with the possibility of a further £1.75m going to the Italians in add-ons. WOLVES are ready to make a £35 million triple swoop. The club will splash out £12.5m on striker Benik Afobe, right, who spent last season at Molineux on loan from Bournemouth.
Defender Willy Boly is set to sign for £10m after his loan from Porto. And Wolves will trigger a £13m option for the permanent signature of another loanee, Atletico Madrid’s Diogo Jota.
