‘Neo-Nazi’ plot to murder MP with machete
AN ALLEGED member of a banned neo-Nazi group yesterday admitted plotting to murder an MP.
Jack Renshaw, 23, bought a 19-inch machete to stab Rosie Cooper to death, the Old Bailey was told. After the murder, he planned to take hostages in order to also kill a woman detective, the court heard.
Renshaw's plan had the blessing of Christopher Lythgoe, leader of the proscribed far-Right group National Action, the jury heard. But the plot to kill West Lancashire Labour MP Ms Cooper was foiled by a disenchanted former member.
Renshaw, of Skelmersdale, Lancs, pleaded guilty to preparing acts of terrorism and a threat to kill Detective Constable Victoria Henderson.
But he, Lythgoe, 32, of Warrington, Cheshire, and four other men, deny being members of National Action.
The trial continues.
