Prey time for eagle who dared
THIS was the awe-inspiring moment a sea eagle gatecrashed a model aircraft demonstration and swooped into aerial combat with a remote-controlled glider.
As pilots gathered to show off their skills along the King George Sound coast in Albany, Western Australia, the majestic bird of prey decided to engage in a game of cat and mouse with the model planes.
Photographer Keith Lightbody captured the moment the eagle, with a wingspan of more than seven feet, latched its claws on to a plane as it slowly began to descend.
Eventually the bird’s interest in the planes dwindled and it soared away to find some real prey.
