Follow Stringfellow advice and live life to the full
READING of Peter Stringfellow’s optimism about the future and how he thought that life just got better and better brought back memories of my dear dad (“Remembering Peter Stringfellow”, June 12).
Born in 1917, he had a poor childhood, fought in the Second World War and experienced some very tough times. He always told me to live life to the full and that if you could survive until you were “three score and 10” then that would be your biggest achievement and every day after was a bonus.
My father did indeed reach 70 and we had a big party to celebrate but sadly he died not long after his 71st birthday, the day before he was due to sit his English O-Level. Lynne English, Wickford, Essex
