I’m two years sober, says proud Zoe

- By Mark Reynolds

AFTER a tumultuous period in her life, Zoe Ball had some good news to share yesterday.

The radio and TV presenter, 47, posted an image on Instagram which read: “I have been sober from alcohol for two years.”

The mother of two then wrote: “Special moment. Two years no booze – through two of the toughest years of my life, I’m not sure I’d have survived intact had it not been for my sobriety and recovery.”

Her message quickly elicited an outpouring of support from her followers. Many fans congratulated her on her milestone and shared details of their own journeys.

Ball has been open about battling her demons as well as a painful divorce from Norman Cook, whose stage name is Fatboy Slim, after 18 years of marriage.

Just last year she faced the tragic loss of her partner Billy Yates, who was found dead at his home at the age of 40 having taken his own life.

Now with a new boyfriend, Michael Reed, Ball has been candid about her struggles with alcohol. In 2014 she admitted that she had broken her sobriety after six years of abstinence which began in 2009 on the morning of New Year’s Day following a party of “total carnage”.

At the time, the TV host claimed that she now kept her drinking in moderation saying “I can’t handle the hangovers”.

Ball also spoke of her ex-husband’s battle with alcohol addiction.

Of his decision to seek help, she said: “I remember feeling so anxious. But he did it. What a man – he’s strong, he’s changed, he’s unbelievable and we are solid.”
