Prince William and a very brave message of peace

-

PRINCE William has always come across as an impressive young man: he clearly takes his position and his duties seriously and we are sure that one day he will be an admirable king. But nothing that he has done to date matches his bravery in taking a message of peace to Israel and the Palestinians. To say that he is walking a tightrope is to understate it: this particular issue is one of the most contentious in the world.

Of course as a member of the Royal Family William is deemed to be above politics and that is one of the reasons he is ideal for the role.

Apart from enhancing his personal reputation (which he will most certainly deserve to do if he helps in any way to calm the situation) he has no personal gain to make, no political advantage to enjoy if his visit eases tensions.

And as far as the rest of the world is concerned, why not? We’ve tried just about everything else, perhaps a little royal diplomacy may win the day where all else failed.

William conducted himself with dignity: there was something kingly in his bearing. And for those who question the role of the modern Royal Family there is the answer.

Indeed those who question the role of the United Kingdom in the modern world have received an answer too. Prince William is taking a message of peace to the Middle East. It proves that as a nation we too still play an important role in global affairs.
