Kinks reunion feud looming

- EDITED BY JACK TEAGUE WITH DOMINIQUE HINES

COULD another Davies brothers’ feud be in the offing over The Kinks’ reunion plans?

Sir Ray and Dave, whose on-off war of words has raged for decades, now appear to contradict each other when discussing the possibility of playing live again.

While Sir Ray, 74, pictured near right, recently revealed surviving members, younger brother Dave, 71, drummer Mick Avory and himself have been working on a new album, he also spoke about the band performing together again.

He says of the Waterloo Sunset hitmakers getting back together for the first time in two decades: “It won’t be well-organised like The Rolling Stones.

“You must praise The Rolling Stones for being great at publicity and a great band, great at organising their careers. And Mick Jagger has done an incredible PR job and it’s kind of inspiring to see them doing it. But The Kinks will probably be playing the local bar!”

But Dave, pictured far right, appears to be in the dark over the prospect of The Kinks gigging again, posting on Facebook: “We haven’t discussed shows or anything else at the moment.”

He does at least confirm they have talked about making new music, saying: “Me and Ray have spoken about the possibility of us working on a new album. Ray has a few songs he wants to finish. I have three or four songs I’ve written with Ray. We’ve been talking about it for some time now.”
