Golden Boot contender Kane, who if he scores today will become only the second player since 1974 to score more than six goals in a World Cup following Brazil’s Ronaldo in 2002, says the players will not be fazed if it goes to another shoot-out.

“We know this game could be the same, going all the way to penalties, but we have that in the bank now,” he said. “We know we can come through.”

But he says England will not underestimate Sweden, who will have only one player playing in the Premier League next season.

“People will say we have better individuals who play for bigger clubs but it’s about how you play as a team,” he added.

“There’s no reason we should treat them any differently to any other side. Their record speaks for itself. They are defensively very strong, very compact. They’ve had a great tournament and stick together on the pitch.”
