RIP beautiful angel...grief for girl, 15, killed by drugs

-

“You were too young to be taken away from this world so soon, you had a long and happy life ahead of you! RIP my beautiful angel.”

Friend Lee Butcher posted a picture of himself with Shakira with the caption: “You touched my heart & soul. Love you so much. Will never forget you. Always with me x Sleep well Baby Girl.”

Last night, a Devon and Cornwall police spokesman said an “unknown substance” had been seized and was still being tested.

A 17-year-old from Redruth and a 15-year-old from Camborne have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug.

Sid Willett, from Cornwall’s Drug and Alcohol Action staff, posted a picture of a blue tablet bearing the logo “Duplo”.

He wrote: “You can bet your bottom Shakira Pellow, left, collapsed on land on this estate in Camborne, Cornwall, above dollar this drug could be in every corner of the UK. It is possible these have come from abroad or the dark web.”

Locals said the area where the children congregated had a “drugs problem” and said neighbours had heard the group had “taken ecstasy”.

In the statement, the family said: “As the family of Shakira Louise Pellow, we are all devastated about the circumstance of her death and we want to raise awareness of the risks of taking drugs.

“Shakira was a young, bubbly girl with her whole life ahead of her.

“Words cannot even explain how we are all feeling at this time, we are absolutely heartbroken.

“We were four months away from celebrating her 16th birthday, planning a big party.

“On Friday evening, Shakira was excited to meet up with her friends. At about 9pm she left with her friends.

“About an hour later, Shakira’s mum Rita and her partner Lee get a knock at the door saying Shakira had collapsed.

“When Rita and Lee arrived, Shakira was already in the ambulance. The police took them both to Treliske.

“After a third heart attack and 13 minutes of resuscitation, there was no coming back.”

Detective Superintendent Roy Linden said: “We would like to speak to anyone who has information, including anyone in the area on Friday evening.”
