...and coming home to No1!

-

ENGLAND fans’ favourite record Three Lions is set to return to the top of the charts 22 years after it was originally released.

The hit with the chant “football’s coming home” was made by Ian Broudie of the Lightning Seeds and comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner.

It has already taken a 30 per cent lead over its nearest rival this week.

Since Friday it has been downloaded 24,000 times and streamed more than 2.6 million times.

In the 24 hours after England beat Sweden it clocked up 701,000 streams on Spotify alone. The record was approved by the FA as the official England song for Euro 96.

Baddiel said the refrain referred to the 1966 victory and the “mystical idea that we might win”. But he says jubilation has risen to “yes, we are going to win”.
