Hidden cameras caught out evil workers’ abuse

-

A CAMERA hidden in an alarm clock caught carers shaking and verbally abusing dementia sufferer Ivy Robinson, pictured

below, at Oakfoss House Residential Care Home in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

Her daughter Angela Wood and husband Simon installed surveillance equipment after noticing bruises on Ivy’s arms.

The footage left the couple “sick and horrified”.

Carer Emma Bryan, 29, was jailed for four months and Katherine Wallis, 45, was given a 12-month community order.

Mrs Wood said the abuse affected her mother badly.

She said: “She keeps saying sorry. I keep telling her she’s nothing to be sorry for and that really hurts.” In another case Alzheimer’s sufferer Gladys Wright, 79, was caught on hidden camera being grabbed by the throat, teased and ignored.

Jim Wright rigged up the device at the Granary in Wraxall, North Somerset. He was so disturbed by what he saw he took the footage to police.

He said: “It’s the opposite of care. It’s neglect. It’s abuse. She was thrown about like she was a sack of something.”

Carers Daniel Baynes, Tomasz Gidaszewski and Janusz Salnikow pleaded guilty to ill treatment and were banned from working with vulnerable adults for life. Judge Michael Longman said: “You were employed as carers. This was in breach of a most basic duty of care and humanity. Nothing about her behaviour or the environment excuses your behaviour.”
