AS ONE of the world’s most famous vegetarian­s it may come as a surprise that Sir Paul McCartney chose to eat in a restaurant famous for its meat following his gig at Liverpool’s Cavern Club last month. However instead of foregoing his meat-free diet, The Beatles singer, 76, used his star power to get The Burnt Truffle in Wirral, below, to create a vegetarian menu just for him. Among the dishes Sir Paul enjoyed were beer-battered salt pickles, pan-roasted cauliflowe­r, butter bean mash and saltbaked celeriac. He also revealed he has got quite the sweet tooth. Sir Paul ordered a massive selection of desserts including chocolate pudding, honeycomb ice cream, profiterol­es, salted caramel sauce and tiramisu. We bet he had to walk down a very Long And Winding Road to burn all of that off.
