Matthew Perry has been rushed to a Los Angeles hospital with a ruptured bowel.

The 48-year-old is now recovering following surgery to repair the tear to his gut. His spokesperson said that while Matthew “appreciates the concern” he hopes he will be allowed “privacy as he heals”.

Matthew, who said that he was open to returning to his role as Chandler Bing on the 1990s sitcom, has been vocal in the past about his health battles.

He checked himself into rehab in 1997 and then again in 2001 for addictions to alcohol and methadone, which is prescribed by doctors as a substitute for hard drugs.
