Snowflake Garvey would never cut it as a wise guy

ANN Widdecombe and Joan Bakewell are right (“It’s time for you guys to lighten up”, August 8).

You really must have very little to worry about to object to the collective noun “chaps” or “guys”.

My female friends use “guys” when addressing groups of women.

It offends me that Jane Garvey is offended by anything, including something as trivial as this.
