BLINK-182: Enema Of The State (MCA) James, from Busted, and I were writing typical pop songs with guitars, then I heard Blink-182. It opened up a genre of pop-punk we hadn’t paid any attention to. That’s why Busted happened. We wanted to be in that band.

THE STREETS: Original Pirate Material (Rhino) I grew up on an estate and everyone listened to UK garage and pirate radio. I remember hearing Has It Come To This? but my mates didn’t get it. Mike Skinner wasn’t a typical MC but I instantly loved it.

THE BEACH BOYS: Pet Sounds (Capitol) A beautiful piece of music that you can put on anywhere at any time. When Busted were touring the first time in Germany I was 19, homesick and listened to this every day. We tried to incorporate some of the harmonies into our music and the first dance at my wedding was to God Only Knows.

THE BEATLES: Abbey Road (EMI) My favourite Beatles album. I even like Maxwell’s Silver Hammer but Here Comes The Sun is stunning and made you realise that this other guy, George Harrison, wrote phenomenal music too.

DAFT PUNK: Discovery (EMI) A phenomenal dance record. I put it on in the gym and the song Aerodynamic pushes me along at the end of runs. You can also put it on in the background at a party because it’s not too clubby.

BROADWAY CAST 2003: Little Shop Of Horrors (Drg) I’m in this right now and it’s a dream role. I watched the movie as a kid and became obsessed with it. Then I went to stage school and was always singing songs from it.
