We’ll reward fans by winning
MAURICIO Pochettino has admitted he is facing his toughest season at Tottenham but has called for unity from the club’s fans.
Stadium chaos, a summer without signings and the late return of nine World Cup semifinalists has left fans concerned the club are in for a hard 10 months.
Pochettino, whose side play Fulham at Wembley tomorrow, said: “For me it will be the toughest season. If we want success we have to give more than our best.
“We are warriors, we want to fight. We want to be proud at the end and we do not want to make excuses. I am a winner and I love the challenge.”
The club were due to move into their £800million stadium next month with their first game a mouthwatering clash against Liverpool on September 15.
Instead it could be November before Spurs are back at White Hart Lane because of the “critical safety system issues” which have delayed the test events needed for a safety certificate to be issued. Season-ticket holders are demanding refunds and compensation. But Pochettino said: “We need to be all together. We need our fans to understand it’s a huge project that will be there forever for them and the club. Of course I understand the problems about tickets, money and I feel sorry for them.
“We’re going to try to reward them by winning games.”
