Morata is homing in on goals again

Anderson hammered as Irons fail to fire

- Mike Walters

FELIPE ANDERSON is already under fire from West Ham fans after his stroll down ‘Misery Lane’.

As the Hammers served up a familiar dish at home, their £38million record signing was the biggest disappointment of all.

It is early days to write off the Brazilian but while the crowd reaction was restrained, the social media verdict was scathing.

Apart from a nifty pass leading to Marko Arnautovic’s opener from the penalty spot, Anderson barely went past his marker all afternoon. And when he lost possession, he seemed to think his butler should retrieve it.

New manager Manuel Pellegrini may need some leeway to work out his best team and goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski – who made two blinding saves and was blameless for the Hammers’ second-half collapse – is pleading for patience.

He said: “It’s important to get that first win because it helps you release a lot of pressure. The fans are excited, we are excited, but it’s about staying cool in tough situations and working hard.

“There have been big changes and it takes time to bed in. I hope the fans understand the situation. It’s important they are supportive and keep believing in the team.”

Bournemouth picked off the Hammers with two goals in five minutes. Callum Wilson was ushered past five defenders and Steve Cook’s winner came from abysmal defending at a set-piece.

After his fifth goal in four games against West Ham, Wilson said: “Do I like playing against West Ham? It seems that way. I worked hard during the week on ways to affect the game and I’m pleased it was worth the effort.”
