Radio 1 Greg’s good morning
GREG JAMES made his Radio 1 Breakfast Show debut yesterday – and the majority of fans were more than impressed with his first morning at the helm.
One said: “Couldn’t miss it... even from France. You’re doing amazing.”
While another remarked: “Greg James doing the Breakfast Show has made me a morning person.”
And another said: “Thanks @gregjames – this is what it’s meant to be about in the morning.”
The 32-year-old essentially did a job swap with outgoing host Nick Grimshaw, who has now taken on Greg’s afternoon Drivetime slot on the station.
Addressing his new morning listeners for the first time Greg said: “I love radio more than anything. To host the Radio 1 Breakfast Show has always been a dream of mine and 20 years in the making. This is the most famous radio show in the world and it’s a privilege to share it with you every morning.”
The man, who started out at the age of 14 when he worked on hospital radio, before going to Radio 1 in 2007, replaced 34-yearold Nick who bowed out with the show having lost 600,000 listeners in the first quarter of 2018.
The man nicknamed Grimmy said previously of his near six-year stint: “It was always my dream to do the Breakfast Show and I’m very grateful that I got to live my dream every day. But six years is a long time and this isn’t a for ever job. I had the time of my life.”
