Events: The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2018, 7pm, BBC1

This year’s fantastic event features talent from around the world performing on the magnificen­t Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle. The theme this year is, The Sky Is The Limit, and in this programme of highlights the internatio­nal cast reaches the heights of entertainm­ent. The Combined Bands of The Royal Cavalry of The Sultanate of Oman bring a spectacula­r mounted display to Scotland while The RAF College Band take centre stage as this year’s ‘home service’ at the Tattoo, marking the RAF’s centenary. From America, the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes & Drums echo the music from the American War for Independen­ce. NB: 7.30PM IN SCOTLAND

Health: Drinkers Like Me: Adrian Chiles, 9pm, BBC2

I like a drink but I am rarely drunk. I do not drink enough to get hangovers. I am a social drinker. If any of those phrases sound familiar then join Adrian Chiles on his journey to learn the truth about his relationsh­ip with alcohol. It turns out the broadcaste­r (left) drinks much more than he thought, and his physical and mental health are suffering as a result. Chiles, who admits he drinks almost every day, starts a diary and is shocked by what he finds.

Cookery: Nadiya’s Family Favourites, 8pm, BBC2

If someone in your family makes marmalade then cherish them, they are a dying breed. Nadiya Hussain (above) continues her quest to find the best homemade marmalade in Britain takes her to Preston, where she meets 102 year-old Nora. The former Bake Off winner shares recipes for a smokey spinach shakshuka, squid risotto, a twist on Sunday lunch and an orange-and-coffee poke cake.

Film: Dad’s Army, 8.30pm, ITV

Taking on a role that is inextricab­ly linked to another actor must be a tough job. Arthur Lowe is and always will be Captain Mainwaring. John Le Mesurier is and always will be Sergeant Wilson. However, the cast of this 2016 remake do the characters justice in what is an enjoyable rehash of an absolute classic. Toby Jones and Bill Nighy (both above, as Mainwaring and Wilson) star alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Comedy: Cuckoo, 10.35pm, BBC1

Ken wakes up to something of a shock – he is trapped behind a newly built wall in Steve’s bar and must wait it out until help arrives – with only Steve for company. Rachel and Dale find themselves in the midst of a pregnancy scare while Lorna is surprised to find Dylan’s new girlfriend is age inappropri­ate and worse still, an old friend. Inbetweene­rs star Greg Davies (right) plays Ken. NB: 11.05PM IN EIRE AND N IRELAND
