I’d give you a job, Ramsay tells teen ‘too short to chef’

- By Gillian Crawley

TOP chef Gordon Ramsay yesterday seemed to offer a job to a teenager told he was too short for a catering course.

Louis Makepeace, 18, who is 3ft 10in, claims he was turned down by Heart of Worcestershire College because he would be a “health and safety risk” and a “disruption” to the other 14 students.

Ramsay, 51, told his 6.8 million Twitter followers: “Disgusting attitude, I’d offer him an apprenticeship any day.”

Fans rushed to back Hell’s Kitchen star Ramsay. Tiffany Salling tweeted: “Maybe you should. If anyone is going to lead the next generation in culinary academia, it might as well be you.”

Jamie Dow said: “Nice one Gordon. You’ve offered the lad a great opportunity.” And Vicky Faulds added: “Please do!!! That would be amazing”. Louis, of Worcester, has achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism. Yesterday he said it would be a “dream come true” to work for Ramsay.

He added: “I am a huge fan. I cook his stuff all the time.”

His mother Pauline claims she was told by a course leaders there was no point in her son attending as he would “never be allowed to work in a restaurant anyway”.

But the college said “at no point has Louis been told he could not attend his course” and that it was reviewing the adjustments he would need “before an unconditional offer could be given”.
