Fab for Queen in France

- Chris Goulding

THE QUEEN, currently enjoying a phenomenal run of success with her horses, will be hoping her good fortune continues if Fabricate heads to France in October.

In the last fortnight five of the Queen’s seven runners have all won.

Fabricate added to that success on Saturday when capturing the Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor for the second year running.

Michael Bell, trainer of the six-year-old, said: “He appears to be fine after Saturday’s race. It was very satisfying to win the race again.

“There aren’t many options for him. He’s entered in the Prix Dollar and I would have thought if he is going to run again that would be where he’ll run.

“There’s not much point carrying a penalty in other races like Group Threes because it’s nigh on impossible.”

The Prix Dollar takes place at ParisLongchamp on the weekend of the Prix De Arc de Triomphe.

This year the Queen enjoyed international success when Call To Mind won the Belmont Gold Stakes at New York in June. Seniority, a winner at this year’s Glorious Goodwood meeting for Her Majesty, holds an entry for next month’s Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket. Mabs Cross, who lost out by a nose to Alpha Delphini in last week’s Nunthorpe at York, is another heading to France. Michael Dods, the filly’s trainer, said: “I’ve not got over it yet. “Everyone was telling me we had won, but I refused to believe it until the result was called. “I expect we will miss an entry in Ireland and now go to France for the Prix de l’Abbaye. “I hope the ground might have a little bit more give in it there too, as that will suit her.” Dods won the Group One twice with the lightning quick Mecca’s Angel in 2015 and 2016. Judicial, who failed to fire in the Nunthorpe, is expected to run in Saturday’s William Hill Beverley Bullet Sprint at the Yorkshire track.

Dan Downie, the racing manager for owners, Elite Racing, said: “It was disappointing, but that wasn’t his running.

“He also missed the break at York, and that didn’t help, either. The ground is also going to go at some point, so we haven’t got many bullets left to fire, pardon the pun, so

we are seriously looking at sending him to Beverley.” James Doyle has put himself on a strict diet to make sure he makes the correct weight of 8st 9lb when he partners the Arc favourite Sea Of Class. Doyle, who currently rides at 8st 12lb, last rode at that weight in Australia 18 months ago.
