School run fun for ‘miracle’ quadruplets
THESE miracle quadruplets who defied all the odds to survive just can’t wait to start school, their delighted mum said yesterday.
Grace Slattery, 35, was told to abort two of her four babies when she was 17 weeks pregnant to avoid suffering another heartbreaking miscarriage.
But after already losing four babies she couldn’t bear to terminate another two and refused.
After three years of struggling with infertility, Grace and her husband, James, 37, were shocked to discover they had naturally conceived quads.
Amelia, Lily-Grace, Mollie and Lucas were all born at 32 weeks in 2014, weighing between 2lb and 4lb.
Despite Amelia being born with her organs in the wrong place, she is now as healthy as the other three.
The inseparable fouryear-olds now can’t wait to start school – they will be in the same class – and have been having fun wearing their matching uniforms.
Grace, from County Limerick, in Ireland, said: “There’s no getting them out of their uniforms. They love wearing sunglasses, too, which is adorable.
“I couldn’t be more proud of them. When I fell pregnant naturally with quadruplets I couldn’t believe it as we had struggled for three years and I’d suffered four miscarriages.
Classed
“Despite being offered to abort two of them before they were even born, as they were classed as high risk, we decided to let fate decide. I was over the moon when they were born.
“They are definitely little miracles. Life is hectic with quadruplets but we wouldn’t change it for the world.”
