A man’s conscience is a funny thing, ignore it at your peril. Hanssen (Guy Henry, left) tries to bury himself in his work but when Gaskell makes a move which he had not bargained for, he can no longer ignore his conscience. Fletch, is burning the candle at both ends, leaving Evie to pick up the slack. Desperate to make things right with his daughter, he faces a tough decision, while an isolated Meena turns to an old flame for comfort. NB: 10.45PM IN SCOTLAND

Technology: The Joy Of AI, BBC Four, 9pm

As we live and breathe the technologi­cal world is advancing around us at breakneck speed. In this BBC Four programme, Professor Jim Al-Khalili (above) takes a look at how machines have been created that can simulate, augment and even outperform the human mind – and why this is not necessaril­y a bad thing. As ever with shows such as this, some will be fascinated by what they see while others will be horrified.

Religion: We Are British Jews, BBC2, 9pm

What it is like to be a Jew in Britain in 2018 has been a much discussed issue recently. Here, eight British Jews with a broad range of opinions, beliefs and practices go on a journey to explore what it means to be Jewish in Britain today and examine some of the most pressing questions and challenges facing the faith and its followers both at home and in Israel. In the first episode, the group meet in Manchester, home to the UK’s largest Jewish community outside London. After getting to know each other and discoverin­g some of their key difference­s, they’ll explore what anti-Semitism looks and feels like in modern Britain and reflect on how perception­s of Israel affect them here at home.

Film: The Secret Life Of Bees, Film4, 6.50pm

A 14-year-old girl who accidental­ly killed her mother while a toddler, flees her home accompanie­d by the family’s housekeepe­r. While searching for a location from her mother’s past, they find solace with three sisters who run a beekeeping business. Drama set in the deep south of America during the 1960s, starring Jennifer Hudson (above left), Alicia Keys (centre), Dakota Fanning (right) and Queen Latifah.

Reality: First Dates Hotel, C4, 9.15pm

Kimmie (right) is a down-to-earth kind of girl who is fed up of finding herself with a broken heart. Tonight, she is paired up with nervous charmer Paul with the hope that this could be the start of the ideal relationsh­ip for her. We also meet London ladette Lauren, a 32-year-old breast cancer survivor who is forever falling for guys who just want friendship. Her dream man comes in the form of tall, bearded market trader Patrick.
