FORMER England captain John Terry is set for a dramatic return to Aston Villa.

The 37-year-old Chelsea legend is ready to answer an SOS from Villa manager Steve Bruce.

Terry led the side to within a whisker of the Premier League last season when he skippered them to the play-offs.

He was due to be offered a one-year deal if he got them back up but they missed out at Wembley and were then engulfed in a financial crisis which took the club to the brink of ALASTAIR COOK said yesterday there was “nothing left in the tank” after revealing he is ending his internatio­nal career after the fifth Test against India.

Cook has scored more runs, hit more centuries and played more Tests than any other England player.

But bringing down the curtain on his 12 years at the top, he maintained he was secure in the knowledge he had given everything to the England cause. “Although it is a sad day, I can do so with a big smile on my face knowing I have given everything and there is

nothing left in the tank,” said opener Cook, the former England captain. “I have achieved more than I could have ever imagined and feel very privileged to have played for such a long time alongside some of the greats of the English game. “The thought of not sharing the dressing room again, with some of my team-mates, was the hardest part of my decision but I know the timing is right. “I have loved cricket my whole life from playing in the garden as a child and will never underestim­ate how special it is to pull on an England shirt. So I know it is the right time to give the next generation of young cricketers
