Shaqiri puts Belgrade on red alert

-

so far this season. Liverpool were prepared to sell Origi for £27million in the summer but Valencia and Borussia Dortmund were put off by the price tag.

Manager Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool are far from hitting the heights despite being top of the Premier League with four wins out four.

“The players are not at their top level yet, but I don’t see anybody who has done that so far – got to 100 per cent. That is because we are in the early part of the season,” said Klopp, below. “It is normal. Everybody should know we have a lot of work to do still, but if they don’t then I’ve told them.” While his lauded front three have not yet reproduced the unstoppable form of last season, with Mo Salah scoring just twice and looking out of sorts against Leicester in the last game, they have still found a way to win. Sadio Mane has hit four goals, and Roberto Firmino one, giving the trio seven goals after four matches, the same as last season.

Asked about his strikers looking off the pace, and in particular about Salah’s comparatively slow start, Klopp said it was down to so many players missing pre-season because of the World Cup. “It is completely normal,” he said. “They will be, but they are not there at the level of last season yet.

“When you win four times it sounds really crazy to say this, but it is still part of the pre-season...for a very long part of the season after the summer.”
