Rovers rocked by double blow

-

TIM SHEENS could not hide his anguish as a double injury blow spoiled Hull KR’s third win from four games in this year’s Qualifiers.

Full-back Adam Quinlan, who had a hand in all five of Rovers’ first-half tries, was forced off in the second half with a suspected ACL knee ligament injury that Sheens fears will sideline him until well into next season.

Fellow Aussie Justin Carney, who is retiring from professional rugby league at the end of this year, departed in the first half with an ankle problem. The winger may have played his last game for the Robins and Sheens said: “They are serious injuries.

“We’re more than 50 per cent sure Adam has done his knee, so that will see him done for the season and half of next season.

“Adam has been one of our best players and the boys are disappointed for him because he’s a great guy and has been so strong for us at the back.

“It’s a bit early to say whether Justin has played his last game but, with only a month of the season to go, it’s more than likely.”

Prop Mose Masoe was also forced off with concussion but Rovers were 24-0 ahead at half-time after Craig Hall scored four tries on his 250th career appearance and James Greenwood also crossed.
