TV surgeon and his girlfriend ‘may have drugged and raped hundreds’

- By Peter Henn

A SURGEON who appeared on a TV dating show and his girlfriend have been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting two women.

Grant Robicheaux, 38, and Cerissa Riley, 31, are said to have carried out the attacks after meeting the women at bars in California.

Orange County district attorney Tony Rackauckas said he feared there could be hundreds of victims after finding “thousands of videos and images” of “highly intoxicated women” on Robicheaux’s phone.

The pair used their “clean-cut” looks to make their victims feel comfortable before getting them so drunk they were unable to resist the advances, it is claimed.

Mr Rackauckas said: “We have all heard of a wolf in sheep’s clothing, well a wolf can wear scrubs or doctor’s clothing, or a wolf can be a beautiful woman.

“We believe the defendants used their good looks and charms to lower the inhibitions of their potential prey.

“There are several videos where the women filmed appear to be highly intoxicated beyond the ability to consent or resist. Based on this evidence we believe there might be many unidentified victims out there.”

Robicheaux, of Newport Beach, California, is an orthopaedic surgeon who in 2014 appeared on Online Dating Rituals Of The American Male.

It is alleged that in April 2016, a 32-year-old woman met the couple in a restaurant where they invited her to a party on a boat. Once she was intoxicated, she was allegedly taken to Robicheaux’s apartment where she was drugged and sexually assaulted.

That October the pair allegedly got another woman drunk in a bar until she passed out. They then allegedly took her to his home and sexually assaulted her. She woke and allegedly screamed for help and a neighbour called police.

The couple are also accused of possessing date rape drug GHB, ecstasy, cocaine and psychedelic mushrooms.

Robicheaux is also accused of possessing two unregistered assault rifles and four other illegal firearms.

The couple were arrested last week and released on £76,000 bail. Officials say they will be formally charged next month.

The California medical board has opened an investigation but there is so far no suggestion that patients were victims.

Robicheaux faces up to 40 years’ jail if convicted on all counts, while former supply teacher Ms Riley could be jailed for 30 years.

Lawyers for Robicheaux and Riley said their clients had been “aware of these accusations for a number of months”. In a joint statement, the lawyers added: “All allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied.”
