Ronaldo dismisses claims he raped model in Vegas hotel as ‘fake news’
FOOTBALL megastar Cristiano Ronaldo has furiously denied claims he raped an American woman in a hotel.
Kathryn Mayorga said the Juventus forward – who was playing for Real Madrid at the time – exposed himself to the aspiring model before pinning her down on a bed.
But the 33-year-old father-offour has described the allegations as “fake news”.
He said in an Instagram video: “No, no, no, no, no. What they said today? Fake, fake news.
“They want to promote [themselves by using] my name. It’s normal. They want to be famous to say my name, but it is part of the job. I am a happy man and all good.”
According to documents filed at Clark County District Court on Friday, the footballer invited the plaintiff and her friend to his penthouse suite on the Las Vegas Strip in June 2009.
They read: “The plaintiff stated she wanted to leave the hotel suite. Ronaldo pulled the plaintiff onto a bed and attempted to engage in sexual intercourse. Plaintiff refused and covered herself.” She claimed she was raped, despite screaming “no, no, no”.
Speaking about the incident for the first time the model, 34, said: “When he was finished he still didn’t want to let me go.
“He looked at me, full of guilt, and started calling me ‘baby’.
“I can’t remember exactly what he said but he said sorry, asking if I had pain. Then he went down on his knees and said ‘99 per cent of me is a good guy. I just don’t know about the other one per cent’.”
She says she reported it to police. Her lawyer negotiated a £287,000 out-of-court settlement which included an agreement not to make the alleged attack public.
A journalism student before working as a model, she claimed she had signed it out of fear.
She added: “I didn’t want a trial – nobody should know what happened to me.”
The pair met at Rain nightclub at the Palms Casino Resort where paparazzi photographed them together. They were seen holding hands while the former Manchester United star whispered into her ear. According to the court documents, he confirmed the pair had sex but said it was consensual.
His lawyers say they will sue German magazine Der Spiegel for originally reporting the allegations.
Cristiano Ronaldo revealed in 2016 he was dating 23-yearold Georgina Rodriguez.
The pair had their first child together last November.
The Portuguese star moved to Italian champions Juventus from Real Madrid this summer for £88.8million.
