Neighbour charged after women stabbed to death in driveway row

- By John Chapman

A NEIGHBOUR was charged with murder yesterday after two women were stabbed to death in their quiet village house.

The women were named locally as warehouse worker Sharon Harris, 55, and her mother Margaret, 78.

Margaret’s husband David, 76, also suffered stab wounds and was flown to hospital where his condition is described as stable.

It has been suggested Mr Harris tried to intervene in an altercation outside their semi-detached property.

Mr Harris is said to have stepped into the row because a couple were making so much noise.

It was claimed the dead women were attacked by a man who chased Mr Harris inside the house following the altercation outside.

Neighbours spoke of a running dispute about a shared driveway and the Harris family’s campervan.

Jack Ralph, 28, who lives next door to the family, has been charged with two murders and attempted murder and was taken into custody to appear before Medway magistrates today.

Police were called by paramedics to Carpenters Lane, Hadlow, Kent, on Saturday just after 7.40am.

Three people were found with injuries “consistent with a stabbing”, police said.

Margaret Harris’s Doris Pope, 71, said: just a big shock and, sister “It’s obviously, we hope that the person who did this is brought to justice. “We’re devastated and just cannot believe it.” Forensics officers spent most of the weekend at two properties. Neighbour Nigel Keogh, 51, a plasterer said: “We moved from London to get away from all this and it’s right on your doorstep.”

Another neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “They are very quiet people and keep themselves to themselves. The Harris family had a campervan. Margaret was quite feeble.

“It’s awful to think… it’s normally so quiet around here.” Flowers have been left outside the Harris house.

One tribute read: “Sharon, we wished each other a good weekend at 4:30 on Friday.

“I can’t believe I am writing these words, there will be a big gap at work without you. All our love Clare and Danni.”
