Teacher ‘had sex with boy, 16, on school holiday flight’

- By Alex Shipman

A SCIENCE teacher had sex with a 16-year-old pupil in a plane toilet during a school trip and later told him she was pregnant and would have an abortion, a court heard yesterday.

Eleanor Wilson, 29, was accused of touching the boy intimately while in their seats, before leading him into the toilet where they had sex.

The pair then went on dates Nando’s and a country park.

He bought her chocolate and flowers in the belief they were in a proper relationship. But he found the situation difficult to understand when she told him about the pregnancy.

Wilson was in another relationship and said she would not tell her boyfriend about him and the abortion.

But the fling was exposed when a friend of the victim tried to blackmail her into also having sex with him, the court heard. She refused to comply and confessed to her superiors.

Bristol Crown Court heard how the teacher began kissing the boy after they had got drunk on complimentary alcohol on the flight from Africa.

In a police interview, he said: “I was in shock. She kissed me properly, on the lips. There was a lot of body touching. That went on for a bit. Then she proceeded to go into the toilet.

“She called me in. I walked in closed the door and locked the door.”

He then described how they had sex and went back to their seats.

Virginia Cornwall, prosecuting, said Wilson, of Dursley, Glos, was accused of an “erosion of boundaries” where she taught at the school in Bristol.

The pair became close during the outdoor camping holiday.

They would pair up for activities and stay up late, talking after other teachers and pupils had gone to bed.

She held his hand on the coach back to the airport, where the group caught an Airbus flight back to the UK. All the teachers and pupils were drinking on the flight and the victim described himself as “fairly intoxicated”. The boy, now 19, told how she touched his hand during the fourhour coach journey to the airport.

He said: “It all kicked off from there. We were probably drinking too much. I was fairly intoxicated. We sat chatting for a bit. We were just talking. It all got a bit touchy – of course I am a bit drunk and I touched her back.”

Ms Cornwall described Wilson as a highly regarded teacher who had a different side as a “risk-taker”.

Wilson, who denies four charges of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust in August and September 2015, was struck off on recommendation from the National College for Teaching and Leadership.

The trial continues.
