Class primed for Arc

- By Chris Goulding

WILLIAM HAGGAS expects to run Sea Of Class in Sunday’s Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Haggas, who had reservations about the filly participating if the ground was soft, said: “Our plan is to supplement her. The weather forecast looks dry and we’re happy with her, so that’s the idea.”

Sea Of Class, the daughter of the 2009 Arc winner Sea The Stars, is the 4-1 second-favourite behind Enable, the 5-4 market leader.

Crystal Ocean, runner-up to Enable in the September Stakes at Kempton last month, was a notable absentee from an entry of 95 which reduced to 22 yesterday.

The drying conditions at Longchamp have put Cracksman’s participation in doubt. However, the John READY FOR ACTION: Sea Of Class is on course for Longchamp Gosden-trained colt was among yesterday’s entries. Aidan O’Brien has six possible runners headed by the St Leger hero Kew Gardens. Capri, Flag Of Honour, Hunting Horn, Nelson and Magical are also in the mix. Roger Varian’s Defoe and the Sylvester Kirk-trained Salouen are other potential raiders from this side of the Channel. Andre Fabre, who has saddled a record seven winners, has four possibles – Waldgeist, Cloth Of Stars, Talismanic and Kitesurf. Clincher is confirmed as the sole runner from Japan. Paddy Power’s latest betting: 5-4 Enable, 4 Sea Of Class, 7 Waldgeist, 8 Cracksman, 10 Kew Gardens, 12 Crystal Ocean, 16 Kitesurf, 20 Capri, Talismanic 25 Study Of Man, 33 Cloth Of Stars, Defoe, Magical, Neufbosc, Patascoy, Flag Of Honour, 40 others.
