Katya was wrong to allow kiss says Craig

Bishop, now 52, was cleared of the murders at Lewes Crown Court in 1987. Less than three years later, he kidnapped a seven-year-old girl as she roller-skated to a shop in nearby Whitehawk.

He bundled the girl into the boot of his Ford Cortina and drove her for 14 miles to Devil’s Dyke on the South Downs in West Sussex, the jury was told. He forced her into the back seat and throttled her with his bare hands, Mr Altman said.

As the little girl fell unconscious, he stripped and sexually assaulted her before leaving her for dead in dense gorse bushes, the jury was told. She later identified Bishop who was convicted of attempted murder, indecent assault and kidnapping.

Bishop is being retried for the murders of Karen and Nicola, following new evidence which led to his 1987 acquittal being quashed by the Court of Appeal.

The Old Bailey jury was told crucial DNA evidence had been discovered on Karen’s left arm. A light blue Pinto sweatshirt, allegedly discarded near the scene by Bishop, linked him to the murders, the court heard. He has denied the garment was his.

Key exhibits, including the sweatshirt and the girls’ clothing were examined for fibres and trace evidence using sticky tape, the jury heard. Mr Altman said: “The tapings represent a time capsule. They are devastating for the defendant.”

Fibres from the girls’ tops and a skirt belonging to Bishop’s 16-yearold girlfriend were found on the sweatshirt, Mr Altman said. He added: “Quite simply, its wearer, the defendant, wore it at the time of the murders and he was their killer.”

Bishop, of Hollingdean, Brighton, denies two counts of murder.

Jurors heard he joined the search for the girls and was nearby when they were found lying together. Bishop tried to get closer but another searcher ordered him back.

He later described the scene to police in so much detail, he must be the killer, Mr Altman added. “He said he saw blood-coloured foam on Nicky’s lips,” he said.

“There is simply no possibility he STRICTLY contestant Seann Walsh pulls a face yesterday when he was spotted with dancing partner Katya Jones.

And as the love-cheat row continued over their passionate kiss in public, judge Craig Revel Horwood claimed Katya should not have allowed the kiss to happen.

Revel Horwood said the situation was essentially a teacher “snogging” student.

Speaking on ITV’s Loose Women, Craig, 53, said: “I would put the ball in Katya’s court, she should not have allowed it to happen. She is married. He is in a relationship but is no longer. It’s a teacher snogging a student, isn’t it?”

He said he was happy the pair returned to the show as they are paid to perform. Craig added: “I could have been in possession of the detail of the precise situation and positioning of the girls and the foam on Nicola’s lips unless he had seen it with his own eyes from very close.

“He was able to describe what he did because that is how he left those two little girls, having killed and sexually assaulted them.”

Bruising suggested the killer had punched Nicola in the face, said Mr Altman. He added that the killer had strangled the girls with one or both hands.

The trial continues. thought they were brave to come back on the show and do their dance of shame. “That has to be done, if you’ve snogged someone at the Christmas party that you shouldn’t have. “I think you’ve got to face the music and dance. They are there to be professional.” The couple – who survived elimination from the show at the weekend – were seen yesterday after a rehearsal session. Comedian Seann, 32, was wearing a leather cap and carried two guitars as Katya, 29, sported a leather jacket. Meanwhile, Strictly’s make-up artist Lisa Armstrong, 41, appeared on the spin-off show It Takes Two the day after her divorce from TV presenter Ant McPartlin, 42, was granted.
