Strictly pair’s ‘tough love’ training

- By Peter Dyke

KISS scandal Strictly couple Seann Walsh and Katya Jones are training hard to stay in the competition – thanks to a diet of watermelon.

Seann posted a video of his tough training sessions with Katya as they prepared for the quick step in tonight’s show.

The video also showed how determined professional Katya is – and the tough love she is giving the comedian.

As he gives fans an insight into what he is now eating during rehearsals, he said: “So the diet of a dancer, watermelon. It’s a very good fruit, no carbohydrates…”

Katya interrupts his video and yells: “Seann where are you?”

Later he shared a snap of himself dripping with sweat.

He wrote: “HELP.”

Then posting a photo of “flawless” Katya, he added: “Look at the difference.”

The move comes after the pair were caught kissing outside a pub and were forced to apologise for their behaviour.

After the scandal, comedian Seann was dumped by his girlfriend Rebecca Humphries.

But Katya’s husband Neil Jones, who is also a dancer on the show, has stood by her.

Now the BBC has warned the professional dancers that once they have done their training sessions with the celebrities, they need to call it a day and head straight home – not to the nearest watering hole.

There is also a ban on them attending late night showbiz parties. Cricketer Graeme Swann said: “I think the pros were told ‘wind your neck in’. And they were all very angry because they couldn’t go to a couple of functions that they wanted to. A curfew was placed upon them. So it’s very much like being in a team, if one person lets the side down.”

Last night a show insider said of the curfew: “The dancers wanted to attend a late night party on a Friday.

“It was suggested it would not look good for them all to be seen out and about the night before the live show.”

Week five will see Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts and her partner Pasha Kovalev dance the rumba to Something About The Way You Look Tonight by Elton John, Dr Ranj Singh and Janette Manrara will take on the American smooth to The Beach Boys’ Wouldn’t It Be Nice and Swann and Oti Mabuse will tango to Roxanne by The Police. Paralympian Lauren Steadman and AJ Pritchard will perform a contemporary couple’s choice routine to Runnin’ by Naughty Boy featuring Beyonce, while Seann Walsh and Katya Jones will quickstep to Lightning Bolt by Jake Bugg.

Other highlights will include BBC documentary maker Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton’s samba to Tequila by The Champs as well as actor Charles Venn and Karen Clifton’s couple’s choice pick of James Brown’s Get Up Offa That Thing.

Judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Dame Darcey Bussell will be joined this weekend by Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro, as Bruno Tonioli will miss Strictly for one week due to his busy schedule.

Strictly is on tonight at 6.45pm on BBC One.
