Shaken and stirred, new dad 007 has met his match

Looking haggard, Daniel Craig passes through airport security with his new baby, while wife Rachel Weisz appears as fresh as a daisy no papoose in sight. Last week Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan mocked Craig when he was pictured carrying his baby in the sling on his chest.

Morgan tweeted that Craig had become “emasculated” adding: “Oh 007. Not you as well?” But fans leapt to his defence on Twitter saying that “real men” cared for their children.

The tweets to Morgan included a stinging rebuke from actor Chris Evans, who plays superhero Captain America in the Marvel movies.

He said: “You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child. Any man who wastes time quantifying masculinity is terrified on the inside.”

Other fathers posted pictures of themselves carrying their babies, with one saying: “My wife carried my son for 37 weeks. I proudly carried him around the block.”

TV hard man Ross Kemp later appeared on the show with a teddy in a papoose strapped to his chest.

“It’s really good for babies,” said the former EastEnders star.

“It’s good for their digestive system. It makes you more of a man because it shows you care.”

And during a chat to promote his forthcoming tour, comedian Harry Hill hit Morgan in the face with a custard pie in revenge “for all those men that wear papooses”.

Craig, who has made four films in the spy franchise since Casino Royale in 2006, will receive a reported £20million to star in the 25th Bond film to be released in 2020.

Shooting was initially delayed after director Danny Boyle quit.

The delay also gave time for Craig and Weisz, who have been married seven years, to welcome their new baby – whose name has not been made public.

Craig has a 26-year-old daughter, Ella, from his first marriage to actress Fiona Loudon, while Weisz has a son Henry, 11, by film director Darren Aronofsky.
