It’s all-glow for rested Meghan

- By Richard Palmer Royal Correspondent

CRADLING her baby bump, a smiling Duchess of Sussex was back on top form yesterday after recuperating on a paradise island.

Meghan, who skipped a series of royal engagements after experiencing tiredness in the fourth month of her pregnancy, appeared happy and rested when she rejoined Prince Harry after spending the day apart from her husband.

She looked elegant in her £168 ankle-length linen Pineapple dress by American eco-brand Reformation, which was perfect for the 75F heat on Fraser Island, off Australia’s Queensland coast.

The stunning setting encompasses the world’s largest sand island, stretching over 75 miles with panoramic viewpoints.

While Harry toured the island and met the locals, Meghan spent yesterday at the island’s exclusive Kingfisher Bay Resort.

It offers pregnancyapproved spa treatments.

A senior Palace source said: “The last few days of travelling to Australia and then getting fully involved with all the engagements had left the Duchess feeling very tired.

“The first trimester for pregnant women is often one of the hardest and it was decided by her and the Duke that she needed to get some rest.”

Meghan will return to a full programme of events today.

Harry visited Pile Valley, the only rainforest in the world that grows out of sand, with towering Satinay trees.

He was welcomed with a traditional smoking ceremony to ward off evil spirits by members of the Butchulla People, the traditional owners of the land they call K’gari – meaning paradise.

The Duke of Sussex was there to mark the forest’s dedication to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy initiative, a growing area of protected forests across the organisation’s 53 member states.

K’gari is the first area in Australia to be recognised under the initiative, with 200,000 acres now under protection.

His second stop was Lake McKenzie, where a Butchulla elder performed a welcome ceremony, dipping foliage into the water and washing the Prince’s bare feet.

Harry also joked that the plaque he was to unveil, marking the dedication, had already been unveiled by his father in Bundaberg during his tour of Australia in April.

He said: “Luckily we are both skilled at unveiling plaques – it runs in the family.”

Harry and Meghan will travel to Fiji today before going to Tonga, and returning to Sydney on Friday ahead of the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games on Saturday.
