Barcelona stay top of the pile

-

BARCELONA’S dominance in Group B continued last night as they beat Inter Milan 2-0 at the Nou Camp.

Rafinha scored the opening goal in the 32nd minute, after being set up by Luis Suarez.

And with just seven minutes remaining, Jordi Alba doubled their advantage.

It keeps Barcelona top of the group, on nine points, three ahead of Inter. Monaco earned the first point of their disappointing Champions League campaign in their first European outing under new manager Thierry Henry – but their 1-1 draw at Club Bruges still left both sides with little chance of making the knockout stages.

Monaco, semifinalists just two seasons ago, and their Belgian opponents face missing out on the top two places in Group A, having both previously lost to Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in their opening two games.

Monaco opened the scoring through 18-year-old Moussa Sylla after a 31stminute counter-attack set up by Russian international Aleksandr Golovin’s surging run.

But the lead lasted only eight minutes before Bruges’ Brazilian centre forward Wesley equalised with a header from Hans Vanaken’s cross.

In Liverpool’s Group C, a late goal from Angel Di Maria salvaged a 2-2 draw for Paris Saint-Germain at home to Napoli.

Dries Mertens looked to have scored a winner that would have put Napoli top, but they slipped to second after Di Maria’s strike in added time.
