Plant’s Whole Lotta Love for Morrison

-

HAVING last shared a stage half a century ago, Robert Plant and Van Morrison, left, will be back together to mark a special anniversary over the weekend.

Robert, 70, below, said: “It has been way over 50 years since I first shared the stage with Van Morrison. His band were number two on the charts with Here Comes The Night.

“His style then and now remains unique and loaded with deep soul. I’m looking forward to an exciting and dynamic night.”

The rockers will perform to a packed crowd – which will include Day & Night’s own – at Bluesfest 2018 at London’s O2 Arena.

Robert supported Van back in 1968 – the same year Led Zeppelin burst on to the scene.

Led Zeppelin, which comprised Robert, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham, sold more than 200 million records. For Van’s part, he has just released a new single, Got To Go Where The Love Is, prior to his – astonishingly – 40th studio album, The Prophet Speaks, set for release on December 7. Discussing the project the 73-year-old said: “It was important for me to get back to recording new music as well as doing some of the blues material that has inspired me.” Californian band Counting Crows – who consider Van one of their influences – are to headline the final night of Bluesfest on Sunday, as part of a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their album August And Everything After.
