Locked up...yawning lout with 47 convictions
A BABY-FACED lout with an “appalling” criminal record since he was 11 has finally been locked up, after yawning before a judge.
Kash Parkinson, 18, who reversed a stolen car into a police officer during a 70mph pursuit, racked up 47 convictions for 77 crimes over the seven years.
But as he yawned and stretched during sentencing at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, disgusted Judge Martin Savill sent him to a young offenders’ institution for four years.
The judge said: “That to me sums up this young man’s approach to life. He couldn’t care less. You have shown a lack of respect for the police and a lack of remorse.
“That police officer could have been killed because of your selfishness.” The early-hours chase happened last June, when Parkinson was on bail over another motoring offence.
PC Christopher Haxby tried to grab Parkinson but he reversed, propelling the officer back on to the bonnet of the police car.
The one-boy crimewave terrorised Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, for years, the court heard on Tuesday.
Shameless photos on social media show 5ft 2in Parkinson bragging about joyriding, even posing behind the wheel of a £200,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom and pointing a rifle.
Magistrates had given him a chance with youth rehabilitation and other schemes, but Parkinson simply ignored them.
When he was put in a care home, he threatened to shoot and stab staff, the court heard.
Parkinson admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified and twice breaching a criminal behaviour order.
Mark Fireman, defending, said Parkinson “has had one of the worst starts in life. He is physically immature and emotionally extremely immature”.
He added: “He is essentially bringing himself up.”
Last night, residents warned Parkinson they would be “waiting” when he was released.
One posted a message on his social media page, saying: “I hear it was you that robbed my motorbike. When you get out of jail, I’m coming to pay you a visit. We have all had enough of you.”
