I’ve shed tears, but I’m ready for roaring forties says happy Alesha

ALESHA Dixon says after shedding tears over turning 40 last month, she is now raring to go.

In an interview for The Jonathan Ross Show, the singer said: “About two weeks before, I was crying every day. I really had a bit of a moment.

“I remember turning 30 like it was yesterday and this decade has gone so quickly.

“I think when you have a big birthday like that it is that realisation of how precious life is and how fast things move.”

The Britain’s Got Talent judge told host Ross: “Thank you for saying I look good but it’s about how you feel and I feel very lucky that at this point in my life I would say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, the most comfortable in my own skin, and I feel very content.

“For me, life really started at 30. My twenties were very turbulent, up and down, very chaotic and once I hit 30, life just got sweeter and things have got better and better.

“I hope that my forties will be kind to me and this will be the best decade yet.”

Alesha, who has five-year-old daughter Azura with partner Azuka Ononye, won the 2007 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

And she was quizzed about the so-called Strictly curse – when contestants or dancers split from their partners while taking part.

The former member of Mis-Teeq joked that she probably tried to kiss dance partner Matthew Cutler. But she said she was so focused on winning that she “didn’t have time for the hanky-panky”.

“The sexual chemistry is real,” she added. “It is intense, so I can see how it goes down that road.

“If I was in a relationship at the time when I was asked to do the show, it would have been a thing I’d have to consider.”

Alesha will be joined on the ITV show at 10.35pm tomorrow by fellow guests Boy George, Stormzy and Russell Howard.
