STRICTLY star Danny John-Jules’s dance partner fled training in tears after a huge row, telling show staff: “I can’t go on with him any more.”

Amy Dowden, 27, sobbed as she rang producers on the BBC show after storming out of the dance studio where they had been practising.

A source said: “Her phone call sparked a sense of panic among the Strictly staff... not least when Amy said she couldn’t be paired with him any more.

“The two of them have had several cross words and arguments throughout the series. But this was the biggest row yet.

“Danny is knackered with all the training and lost his cool. Amy took it really badly and stormed out, saying she couldn’t carry on.”

Strictly bosses have told Danny he needs to be “mindful of his behaviour”. They spent yesterday reassuring Amy, and last night she and Danny, 58, put on a united front on spin-off show It Takes Two.

One source said: “Show bosses take their duty of care towards Amy very seriously, but they were reassured when Amy insisted the next day she would continue.

“She and Danny have been back in training and are trying to put it all behind them.”

The source added: “At the same time, they need to give Danny the benefit of the doubt. He is a perfectionist who strives to make each dance better and better.

“It’s very common for things to get heated during training.”

Danny has been one of the favourites to win the show since week one – and was the first contestant in this year’s competition to receive a 10. But last weekend saw Danny and Amy at the bottom of the leader board with 22 points – meaning the pressure is on this weekend when they perform a samba. It was Dr Ranj Singh, 36, and his partner Janette Manrara, 34, who were eliminated however after facing a dance-off against Charles Venn, 45, and Karen Clifton, 36. Speaking to Zoe Ball on It Takes Two, neither referred to the row. But Danny said he had struggled with the training. He said: “After the weekend I came in like a girder – really tense – and I was trying to get the legs working. “But yesterday and today I’m so much more at ease now.” Amy told Zoe she “doesn’t like talking” about the bad scores of last week but explained to Danny what went wrong. She said she held him more strongly to lead him around the floor, about which Danny said: “I just felt two vices just strapping me like that. You’re coming this way! I don’t care where you want to go!” Last night a Strictly spokeswoman declined to comment. But a show source said: “It’s been a tough week for Danny and Amy, learning their challenging samba routine. After a long day training, they had a minor disagreement but they’ve put their differences behind them and were back in rehearsals today. “They are looking forward to performing on Saturday night’s show.” The November 17 show is live from the Blackpool Tower ballroom.
