Hard sell for Pep

JURGEN KLOPP says tomorrow’s 232nd Merseyside derby will be a “proper fight”.

Klopp is hugely impressed with the progress Marco Silva has made at Everton and has warned his players this derby will be his toughest.

The Liverpool manager, who has won four and drawn two of his six derbies, said:

“It will be a proper fight, nothing else. It will be a proper football game. It won’t be the most easy game in the world, but nobody would expect that in the derby.

“We have to be ready for a proper, proper fight. That’s how derbies should be. It’s 4.15pm, it’s nearly dark, it’s the perfect time, everything is perfect. Let’s go out PEP GUARDIOLA admitted Manchester City may have to put up the ‘for sale’ signs in order to comply with incoming new FIFA rules on loan deals.

Regulations designed to stop big clubs stockpiling talent look set to be rubberstamped by the governing body in February in time for the 2020-21 season.

They are expected to limit the number of and fight for each other.” Klopp, below, said Silva was shrewd with his signings after taking charge in the summer and had changed Everton’s style from the passive, defensive side they previously were. “Before, they were different games,” Klopp said. “Everton were very passive, they sat deep, but that will not be the case now. “Marco Silva has brought in the players he wanted. Richarlison, what a player he is. “Last year Theo Walcott came in, Bernard came in this year, Andre Gomes came in this year, Yerry Mina came in this year. Since I came here, Everton have signings a club can send out on loan to a maximum of eight.

And with as many as 28 players out on loan from the Etihad, Guardiola conceded that the regulations are likely to prompt a fire sale of talent next summer in order to comply. “The new rules are coming and we are Goto BQWATCHES.COM and fill in our friendly online form and request a valuation. its history, by its dimension, bigger than Tottenham?

“But can you buy Tottenham’s best players? No, because they don’t sell. Of course they are so powerful they can say no.

“A few years ago, who was Tottenham’s best player? Carrick. And a few years later, who was their best? Berbatov.

“Can we go there now and bring Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eriksen, Son? Can we go there and bring those players here? No. So who is more powerful?”

Mourinho has spent about £382.5million since taking over at United, while City rival Pep Guardiola has presided over an estimated £525m overhaul.

Asked why United were unable to match City for spending, despite being the richest club in the world with an estimated value of £3billion, Mourinho pointed an accusing finger.

“I cannot say the answer because one of the answers you had a few weeks ago,” said Mourinho in a clear reference to the allegations that City flouted Financial Fair Play regulations to sign players.

“But football has changed. It’s more difficult to buy players of a high, high, high level. Before the smaller clubs were almost begging the big clubs ‘get my best players, I need to sell – please, you are powerful’.

“In this moment they don’t want to sell. So it’s more difficult to make the team better and stronger with buying, unless you do what some clubs do and for some reason they can do this and others cannot. It’s

HUGHES: Big fan of Mourinho difficult. We do what we can. Last season it was fantastic to finish second and we’re fighting hard. I know that we have to do better than what we’re doing, absolutely. “But one thing is to do better, another is to compare ourselves with what United was in the past. It’s impossible.” Sanchez, who has endured a difficult time at United since joining in January, suffered the injury in training on Thursday. Mourinho described Sanchez’s torn hamstring as an “aggressive” injury and said: “No scans yet, but the player is experienced, the player knows what the injury is and from the top of my experience, just the painful scream and the way the injury happened, I know it’s going to be a long time. “It’s not the little muscular injury that in one week or 10 days the player is ready, so it’s aggressive.”

Today United take on Southampton whose under-fire manager Mark Hughes has backed Mourinho to deliver. “Jose has been successful in every club he has been at,” said Hughes. “He’s an astute manager, he always has a plan. He’s considered in everything he says. Sometimes he’ll say things for a reaction. “He’s front of house and very good in that regard. He has the respect of the players. Criticism is there when you’re the figurehead, which he is and which I am here. The first port of call when criticism comes is in your direction and you have to accept it.”
