Massive hunt for holiday isle Briton
FRIENDS of Amy Gerard, a British woman who has gone missing in Tenerife, have asked locals and holidaymakers to check their phones for any clues to her disappearance.
The 28-year-old was last seen outside Irish pub Molly Malone in the northern city of Puerto de la Cruz where she lives just after midnight on Thursday.
She is employed on the Spanish island as a trainer working with killer whales at the marine theme park Loro Parque.
Amy’s friends have handed out flyers and spoken to shopkeepers to see if they had any information or CCTV that might help in the search.
Among them was Pablo Joury who appealed on social media: “People in or around Tenerife, please check your phone for any pictures/Instagram/Snapchat to help find Amy.
“Maybe [she’s] in the background of one of your photos.”
Amy’s mother Julie and sister Chloe have flown to Tenerife from their home in Grimsby, Lincs.
They have described Amy’s disappearance as “totally out of character” and are concerned for her safety.
The Lucie Blackman Trust, which supports families of people missing or killed abroad, yesterday said Amy left the bar with her boyfriend became separated.
A spokesman said: “Amy was on a night out with work friends for a birthday... She left the but they bar with her boyfriend but they became separated. Amy has not been seen or heard from since.”
It is believed Amy was last seen wearing black skinny jeans, Ugg boots, a dark green top and a red bomber jacket.
Police are believed to have checked her bank account and mobile phone records and a murder squad has been briefed.
Amy had been using her maiden name Gerard and not her married name. Ryan Docherty, who she is still understood to be married to, is in the UK and is sharing appeals. Mon-Thurs 8.30am-7pm, Fri till 5pm, Sat 9am-3pm
