RUPERT’S ODD PARTY

“Thanks. That will ease my load,” Says Daddy. “Now I’ll cross the road.” The smell of the orange zest and cinnamon cooking in the oven adds a delicious festive aroma to the kitchen at Christmas time, and it is also a great recipe for children to make. Makes 12-16.

INGREDIENTS

100g unsalted butter at room temperature 50g sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2

teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest 125g plain flour 200g mini chocolate chips

Christmas biscuits METHOD

Pre-heat oven to 200C/180C fan assisted, gas mark 6.

Cream the butter with sugar using a handheld mixer.

Mix in the vanilla, salt, cinnamon, orange zest and flour.

Sprinkle in the mini chocolate chips and stir by hand.

Roll the dough out about 12mm thick and cut into circles or use festive cutters for Christmas shapes. Place onto a non-stick baking tray.

Prick the tops with a fork and bake for 25 minutes.
