Paedophile PC given job despite three sex probes is jailed for raping girl, 13

- By Chris Riches

A PERVERTED Police Constable who was given the job despite being named in three sex inquiries was yesterday jailed for the rape of a 13-year-old girl.

Ian Naude, 30, joined Cheshire Police in April 2017 and was obsessed with taking the virginity of young girls he groomed online.

Yesterday he was jailed for 25 years by Liverpool Crown Court.

It heard he first met his young victim while attending a domestic incident in his role as a PC.

Days later the South Africanborn paedophile picked her up in his car, raped her in the back seat and filmed the assault on his phone.

However, it emerged during his trial that Naude had previously been named as a suspect in sex cases involving neighbouring forces before taking up his Cheshire post.

The force admitted his appointment had been put on hold from January to April last year because he was alleged to have raped a woman in Staffordshire.

No further action was taken in that case and Naude was allowed to become a constable.

Reports of two child grooming cases elsewhere that named him as a suspect in early 2017 were not picked up by Cheshire Police until after his arrest that November.

Cheshire Police Acting Chief Constable Janette McCormick apologised to the family of the 13-year-old rape victim and said the case had prompted a lot of “soul searching”.

She said: ‘In light of this case, the constabulary has looked long and hard at its recruitment and screening programme to see whether this as a 15-year-old

“Jake Green”.

Taking into account 37 offences, Judge Clement Goldstone QC told Naude: “In order to impose your will on a young girl and to commit offences of rape and sexual assault, you used and abused your position as a Cheshire police officer – to satisfy your lust and your perversion.”

He said Naude, of Market Drayton, Shropshire, was “out of control” and revelled in his “smug self-satisfaction”.

In a statement read to court, the girl’s mother said her daughter could no longer leave their house without close family and friends.

She said: “She will no longer walk past the local police station and hides when a police car drives past.”

Other parents said their daughters had gone on to self-harm after being groomed online by Naude, who blackmailed his victims.

Naude was convicted of rape, sexual assault, arranging commission of a child sex offence and four charges of attempting to arrange commission of a child sex offence.

He also admitted 30 other offences, including using his position as a police officer to find contact details of teenage girls. boy called
