Don’t worry Levy, I’m staying

- By Paul Brown

MAURICIO Pochettino has admitted Daniel Levy is worried about losing him to Real Madrid or Manchester United.

But the Tottenham manager, whose led his side into the Champions League last 16 with a draw at Barcelona on Tuesday, says he does not need to reassure his chairman that he is staying put.

Pochettino, who only signed a bumper new five-year contract in May, has big admirers in both Madrid and Manchester.

He said: “I don’t know if there are some offers that Daniel knows about, or that he has had.

“He’s a worry man. He suffers. Because he’s jealous about me. It’s normal, no? He’s a very jealous person!

“Why is he jealous? Because of the rumours. He doesn’t laugh when we speak about it. Maybe he is worried, he is concerned about them. It’s not nice for Daniel to hear all that, of course.

“But I prefer the newspapers are saying this than Tottenham are going to sack me or we are in a delicate situation. I am not worried, of course.”

Pochettino, whose side face Burnley tomorrow, has always insisted he is staying at Spurs, but asked whether he has to keep reassuring Levy of that, he said: “Me? No. In football there are many things you don’t need to do.

“It’s like when the sporting director or the president appears and says, ‘No, no, no. The manager is going to be here. We trust in him’. But lose the next game and you’re out.

“If you need to reassure someone it’s because you are thinking in different ways.”
