Yussuf at the double as Moors fight back
A TREMENDOUS fightback from non-League Solihull Moors sent them into extra time with Blackpool as both sides fought for a glamour FA Cup third-round home tie with Arsenal.
First half goals from strikers Armand Gnanduillet and Joe Dodoo gave Blackpool a grip on the second-round replay
BLACKPOOL SOLIHULL MOORS
By but Moors striker Adi Yussuf grabbed one back before the break and levelled from the penalty spot early in the second half. Gnanduillet’s opener was a flashing volley from eight yards as he met Jordan Thompson’s corner in the 10th minute, giving Ryan Boot no chance.
The League One club stretched their advantage midway through the half, Rangers loanee Dodoo firing home after Marc Bola’s clever cutback.
But Solihull deservedly hit back, top scorer Yussuf glancing a header past Mark Howard after Jamey Osborne’s long throw.
And they were level early in the second half when Yussef converted his spot kick after Alex Gudger went down at a corner. ❑ FIFTH-ROUND matches in this season’s FA Cup will be settled on the day, with no replays.
A decision was made earlier this year to scrap fifth-round replays from the 2019-20 season but the change was brought forward a year by the Professional Game Board to lift fixture congestion in February and March.
