Chisora’s vowing to turn the tables

- By Martin Domin

DEREK CHISORA has vowed to exact revenge on Dillian Whyte – but stopped short of throwing furniture this time.

Whyte edged out Chisora two years ago on a split decision over 12 gruelling rounds.

It was almost the fight that never happened after Chisora threw a table at his fellow Londoner at a press conference.

Both were reprimanded and there was no repeat performance 24 months on.

Chisora said: “I think they screwed the tables down this time. The last build-up made Eddie Hearn [Whyte’s promoter] loads of money, so I’m not going to do that again.

“I’m in a great place. If you remember in November last year people said I was done and there was no coming back, but I rebuilt and came back.

“I’m a better person, training has gone well and now I’m ready to go to war and have a great fight. I’m going to bring the same game I bring every day. Dillian is going to come and run but eventually he’ll meet me in the middle and that’s great. I’m going to seek and destroy.

“You just have to bite the gumshield and go. It was a great fight last time. My brain cells didn’t enjoy it but I did.

“We’re going to drown Dillian from the get-go. We’re going to take what’s his and make it mine.”

Whyte has beaten Lucas Browne and Joseph Parker since and another victory could land him a shot at Anthony Joshua.

Whyte said: “There are levels and I keep improving. Derek will see how strong I now am. He keeps saying he’s going to be pounding and pounding – he isn’t going to be pounding me, trust me.

“I keep improving. Derek will see how strong I am. This is boxing. I’m used to people saying they’re coming to do this or do that and try to get in my head, to get me to do something else. I’ve been around long enough now not to be fooled. I’ve seen things.

“Fighters say they’ll do one thing and they do something else. I don’t think Derek himself knows what he’s doing. Let’s see what happens.

“I’ve had good learning fights, I’ve fought the right people and there’s still a lot more to come.”

Chisora claimed Hearn was holding back his fighter.

“Eddie doesn’t believe Dillian can beat Deontay Wilder. From what I’ve been told, if they’d offered Deontay £4.5million then it was on.

“Dillian knows that. If I had his WBC silver belt then I’d be fighting the WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

“If Eddie and Dillian offered Deontay £7m to come to London and fight, then he’d have done it. Instead, they kept lowballing the guy and he told them to forget it.”
