Toffees stick to 52,000 limit

- CHRIS McKENNA MIKE WHALLEY

EVERTON have proposed a 52,000 capacity for their new £500million stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The venue is still at a public consultation stage, with designs set to be put on display in the summer.

Everton want to seal planning permission for their ambitious project and are likely to pursue private funding for the ground, which the club are hoping will regenerate north Liverpool on the banks of the River Mersey.

The Toffees have confirmed a proposed capacity of 52,000 for the new stadium with the “potential for this to rise to 62,000 in the future”.

The projected capacity takes into “account several factors which include design and orientation of the stadium, current and future ticket demand and forecast revenues and costs”.

Everton also believe the ground will be ‘future proofed’.

They will do this by ensuring two of the stands at the venue, which is expected to take three years to be completed once planning permission and funding are in place, will be easy to adapt for rail seating or safe-standing options. AARON LENNON is out of Burnley’s Christmas games after having a knee operation – and manager Sean Dyche admits he has no idea when the winger will return.

Lennon was injured in last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at former club Tottenham.

“It’s a tidying-up situation. He and the surgeon are happy with it,” said Dyche. Hopefully it will be a straightforward recovery.” ●JAMIE VARDY is set to return for Leicester at Chelsea tomorrow. The striker was rested for the Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out loss to Manchester City on Tuesday.

“Tickets? God, yeah! Through the roof,” said the Liverpoolborn Wolves captain.

“I’ve asked for 13 tickets… so a few of the boys are going mad. But I’ve managed to wangle a few from here and there. Family are sorted, kids are coming so it’s all good.”

This is the game Scouser Coady has been looking forward to ever since leading Wolves to promotion.

He was a Liverpool nut as a boy, signed for them at the age of seven and was brought up the Liverpool way.

But it has been Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo who has provided the finishing touches to one of the Premier League’s most elegant defenders.

That upbringing is there for all to see as Coady is composed, likes to bring the ball out of defence and has fitted perfectly into Wolves and their style of play.

There is no hiding that Coady is a Liverpool fan but he has taken the best parts of his time at Anfield into making him the player and person he is.

He will no doubt run into Jamie Carragher, the Sky pundit and Liverpool legend who offers advice when they see each other.

“It was such a good club to play for growing up. It was a huge club and it helped me so much not just as a player but as a person,” said Coady. “I spent a
